Know this: Unfortunately, we now live in a society that is more “me” focused and not “we” focused. It, for so many is now in the mindset of . . . 'What is best for me?'

So, it is a good time to ask the question – “Am I one who is helpful or hurtful?”

This is good to think about as we work to understand: To be weak, one does not have to be 'not as physically strong as others', but to be apathetic to others.

And know this as well . . . being hurtful to others can be achieved in many ways. You can say hurtful words, you can be dishonest, you can be deaf to the cries for help, and or you can do actions that endanger or even do harm to others. Which then raises the question: Are we purposefully being harmful to others or are we just not realizing it?

If it is intended – we've got to stop it and figure out why we've being doing hurtful things to others. If not intentional, we also have to find a way to recognize the situations where we are being hurtful, to stop those and to understand why we're potentially tripping up in those situations.

As to why? It all comes down to the type of character that you want to have. If it is one of honor, then we must work at it. If we want to be a jerk, that is easy. Just don't care about others. Your hurtful words and actions will be noticed. And yes, then you will find your family and friends are gone and your reputation is worthless.

So, reflect and decide on the type of person you will be.
