It is sad to say but across our country, more people are focused on how they look (aka vanity), than how they act (aka dignity). So then, why is that?

Well, that's why we need Brick#2: Understand dignity.
And to do so, consider the following.
First, although we don't have ice on the lakes yet – we'll have it before we know it so, from this comic, learn to be careful on what you say (in all situations), because some may take offense – when you meant nothing negative at all.
Second, consider these words . . . “The man who is truly good and wise will bear with dignity whatever fortune sends, and will always make the best of his circumstances” by Aristotle. Which reminds us, to be good and wise, dignity is a critical attribute to have. And yes, that is another of those easier said then done realities.
Which then brings us to the third consideration, that being what your thoughts on this are? And that assumes you have some thoughts about this. If you do and your managing your life with with wisdom, courage and dignity, please continue on. But, if you are struggling with these, step up and start making all of the changes in your life that you need to do.

Easy?
No, but the benefit in doing so is fantastic.
Titus 2:7 Be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine and with dignity.
