T4tD: Loss [do we care?]

As we work our way to the end of the first half of 2020, at a minimum . . .

we can say we have lost a lot of good people due to this COVID-19 virus, as well as too many innocent lives – caused by the stupidity of others (and yes, some of the virus deaths were caused by people not thinking or caring what could happen to them).

So, how should we look at the aspects of loss? Do we care at least to some degree? And yes I know we have to open wide our perspectives on what we are losing. For example, is it a loved one or friend, is it an opportunity or something that we treasured, or is it a piece of ourselves – our dignity or honor or compassion for others that we just don't have any more?

If we put our life into the right perspective, we see that it is a journey of gains and losses, a mix of happiness and sadness . . . sometimes expected and at others times – we are surprised. All of us experience these but it is what we value that makes all the difference.

And as I think on this further, one of the biggest things I miss today is not being able to give hugs to loved ones and friends because we are trying to stop the spread of this nasty virus. Good? No but for us, the right thing to do. And in thinking on all of this - I am reminded of these words . . . “If God takes away something you never expected to lose, then He can replace it with something you've never imagined having.”

So, please do yourself a favor and make some time to think about what is really important to you. Are you appreciating it as you should or will you have later regrets based on the woulda, coulda, shoulda churn that too often happens?

And remember Psalm 34:18 . . . The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and He comforts those who are crushed in spirit.
